El Prado Perigee Suite
now, when
the force of gravity
is greatest,
best keep my attention
close to home
sapling branches
groan against themselves,
tap for attention
against my neighbor’s
doublewide
meadowlark-
echo of her crescent throat
now faded,
has flown into the dark cover
of winter’s last night
dry umbels
sway above the culvert,
garage band drummer
pounds the week away
blueray silhouette
fills a nearby picture window:
teen playing
garish split screen war games
hunched over his weapon remote
